“My inherent love of design and décor started at an early age when I would find myself drawing the “blueprint” of my Barbie dolls’ homes on huge chalkboards. My siblings would catch me rearranging my bedroom, putting my art up on the walls, or “fixing” the set up my parents had in our living spaces while they were away. I’m generally the one called upon by friends and family for decorating advice. I’ve always had a creative bent, and would make suggestions as to how to make something look more attractive or useful. I didn’t realize until later in life that this wasn’t something that everyone does, or even enjoys doing. Yet for me… it’s what stirs me up and brings out my passion!
I love the act of being able to rearrange a space, add color, texture, dimension, focal points, lighting, comfort and accents to make it more inviting. It ends up speaking without words to tell a story, start a conversation, and make an emotional connection. It motivates me to think and create something new and fresh. I realize that decorating and designing a home is a very personal venture, and I am here to help people love their environment so it truly becomes the most desirable place for them to be. The only way to do this is to establish a connection and a rapport with my clients, because the people are what matters most.
My education began in the field of Human Resources. I have spent much of my career in that field along with finance, but knew that I was setting aside something I loved to do because I assumed it would only be my hobby or a way to help others in my spare time. I finally decided to pursue a certificate in Interior Decorating from IUPUI. I have also been extensively trained and certified by Home Staging Resource, the most comprehensive and recognized home staging certification in the US, accredited by the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA), the only third-party governing organization for this industry.
My heart belongs to Jesus, He is at the center of all I do. Thank God for His grace, because I am far from perfect but He will continue the work He has started in me. I have been blessed with 3 beautiful children, and much of my free time is spent with them. I love to spend time at church and with family and friends, to serve in the community, and to work on my own 1900 home! I enjoy reading books that help me grow, teaching, sipping coffee over good conversation, restoring old furniture, dancing and singing (when no one can hear me)! I enjoy painting with acrylic on canvas, I’ve been writing a couple of books that I hope to publish, and I love experiencing new cultures and great food. I am into healthy eating and lifestyle, but always a work in progress! So, now you know about me… I’d love to hear about you!”
